Board

Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) is registered under the Corporations Act 2001 as a Company Limited by Guarantee. LCHS is governed by seven Board Directors, of which four Directors are elected by the membership of the company and three Directors appointed by the Board.

At the LCHS Board Meeting on Thursday 27 November 2008 John Guy was elected Chairperson and Peter Wallace was elected Deputy Chairperson.

The Chief Executive Officer is the Secretary of LCHS under the Corporations Act 2001 with performance reviewed annually by the Board.

The Board also support the Audit Committee and Quality & Safety Committee. The Audit Committee is chaired by Steven Porter and meet quarterly. Steven Elvy chairs the Quality & Safety Committee with meetings held quarterly.

 

John Guy OAM
Chairperson
Elected to the Board in 1997, John spent 35 years with the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), six years on the Morwell Shire/City Council (three consecutive years as Mayor), he was Chairman of the Latrobe Regional Commission and Chairman of Commissioners of Wellington Shire during the amalgamation process. John is currently Chairperson of “Advance Morwell Inc” and Chair of Gippsland Regional Clinical School Community Support Group.

 

Peter Wallace
Deputy Chairperson, Board Audit Committee member, Board Quality and Safety Committee member 
Elected as a Board member in 2007, Peter is the retired Director Corporate Services at Latrobe Regional Hospital. His previous appointments include Chief Executive Officer at Maroondah Hospital; Deputy and Acting Chief Executive Officer at Box Hill Hospital and Director of General Services at Monash Medical Centre. Peter has also undertaken project-consulting assignments at Mercy Health and Aged Care, the Royal Children’s Hospital and Barwon Health.

 

Steven Porter

Board Audit Committee Chair
Appointed to the Board, Steven is a previous alumni of Leadership Victoria and completed professional Board Orientation Series training. He has experience in senior management positions of asset planning, capital works, communications/public relations, business processes and resource management.

 

  

Chris Devers

 An elected Board member since 2001, Chris’ previous roles include eight years in power station operations with State Electricity Commission of Victoria, power industry technical writing, Parliamentary electorate offices and community development worker positions. He currently works as a Ministerial Adviser within the Victorian State Government. Chris is active in numerous community groups and has served on Disability Advisory, Advocacy and Resource Council Boards within the Gippsland region.

 

 

Carolyne Boothman 

Board Quality and Safety Committee member
Bachelor of Education (Primary), Graduate Certificate of Religious Education, Level 1 Sports Trainer, Level 2 First Aid & CPR Instructor. Carolyne has been a Board Director for Gippsland Sports Academy for the past 11 years, Gippsport Board of Management for 15 years and member of the Gippstar Awards Panel for 13 years, and Secretary of the Awards for the last 5 years. She is a member of the LRH Community Advisory Committee, LRH Foundation, and Minutes Secretary/Publicity Officer for the Gippsland Acoustic Music Club. Currently teaches at Newborough East Primary School, leads the Goal Setting/Time Management and Injury Management sessions for the Gippsland Sports Academy and has previously been a lecturer at Monash University.

 

Melissa Bastian

Board Director since January 2011.  Bachelor of Laws with Honours, Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Bachelor of Business (Management) and a former State Registered Nurse.  Melissa has a diverse background in the health, insurance and legal industries. She has held a variety of senior roles and is experienced in managing teams and stakeholders in both the private and public sectors.  Melissa is currently working at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in Traralgon and is participating in the 2011 Gippsland Community Leadership Program.
