Home Visits: An Occupational Therapist (OT) conducts home visits for adults and children with issues related to managing day to day activities. eg showering, toileting, preparing meals, mobility and seating, caring for others and getting about in the community. The focus of Occupational Therapy is on assisting people to live independently.
Home Visits are available for people with permanent or temporary needs; that are related to physical, psychological or developmental issues. 
OT intervention may include:
• Advice – how to simplify tasks, pressure care
• Education – living with arthritis, falls prevention, safe use of a scooter
• Equipment - grab rails, bath seats, wheelchairs
• Home Modifications - level entry shower recess, hoists and ramps
Note: Whilst many clients purchase their own equipment others may be eligible for funding; or assistance from other sources eg. Office of Housing,VA&EP,DHS.
OT information sessions.
Available for clients who wish to access OT advice for equipment. The aim is to ensure clients are not on the waiting list unnecessarily. The sessions cover strategies that can be employed by clients to make decisions about funding and service options.
The sessions are a pilot program from October 2009-April 2010
 

HACC eligible only
• Home visits can only be done for LCC residents
• Residents of CRUs and private hostels.
• Pre and post discharge Home Visits from Private Hospitals
• DVA clients should be informed that there are waiting lists (up to 3 months) and they can be referred to a private practitioner at no extra cost if they prefer.

Initial visit only payable.Cost as per fee schedule.
Purchase/loan of equipment incurs extra costs
 

Home Visits between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.
Practioner books own appointments for home visits.
