Make the most of your school holidays

Over the school holidays, make the most of your time with the kids to try something new, or do something which you normally wouldn’t have time for.

Over the school holidays, make the most of your time with the kids to try something new, or do something which you normally wouldn’t have time for.

Here are a few suggestions:

Get a dental check

Take the chance to get your kids’ teeth checked to give them a clean bill of health. Having regular check-ups can help with early detection and treatment of issues such as tooth decay.

Under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, children whose families receive Family Tax Benefit A are eligible for up to $1,000 of dental care.

Families can book an appointment to see a friendly Latrobe Community Health Service dental team at our clinics in Warragul, Moe and Morwell by phoning 1800 242 696.

Take a winter walk

Walking is a great way for the family to exercise and spend time together, and is perfect for kids of all ages. If you have a smaller child, strap them into a carrier or into the pram for an extra workout.

Visit the Heart Foundation Walking website at walking.heartfoundation.org.au to find a walk near you.

Experiment in the kitchen

Visit a farmers’ market or buy some fresh produce to test out yummy new family recipes. Seasonal winter vegetables like kale and pumpkin taste great in soups, but can also be a healthier filling option for a pie.

Get the little ones helping out by peeling potatoes or helping you cut up veggies under supervision.
