The program assists people in finding secure, safe housing, as well as supports for their mental health, drug and alcohol use, financial difficulties, or family violence issues.
LCHS Dual Diagnosis Clinician, Stacey Maxwell, plays a key role in the program. She works with participants to address the underlying factors in their lives that often lead to homelessness. This specialised role helps people work through personal challenges and access additional supports that will help improve their lives long term.
The most unique part of this program?
“People choose how much support they want and set their own goals.” Stacey says.
“The program offers help for at least 3 years to make sure people have the lasting support they need.”
“Our team is here to help break the cycle of homelessness and build better futures.”
So far, the program has helped secure 25 houses for Homes First participants. With more support packages coming soon, the team is aiming to help break the cycle of homelessness for more people in Gippsland.
