LCHS and Monash Sensory Science celebrate International Day of People with Disability

Imagine being able to hold an immune system, touch a cancer cell, or hear brainwaves as music. Well, now you can.

Monash Sensory Science (MSS) has brought these medical mysteries to life, in a hands-on sensory experience designed for people who are blind or have low-vision, or have diverse needs.

Last week, our NDIS Glen Waverley team partnered with MSS creators Dr Erica Tandori from Monash University, and Dr Stu Favilla from Swinburne University to host the interactive art display.

Staff were able to touch, hold, and listen to the display pieces, demonstrating how using different senses can help people with disabilities enjoy science.

“It has been wonderful to partner with Monash Sensory Science,” NDIS Local Area Coordinator, Allen Stipanic, said.“The multi-sensory experiences makes science more approachable for individuals with diverse needs, and helps our team stay informed about the latest advancements in accessibility.”
