Hepatitis C is a virus that causes liver inflammation, swelling and pain. It is often spread through the blood by sharing injecting drug equipment that isn’t sterilised. Treatment to reduce inflammation of the liver can help, and in some cases, even clear the virus from your system.

Sometimes, the initial hepatitis C infection can last for more than six months. This is chronic hepatitis C. In some cases, severe scarring of the liver or cirrhosis may develop over time.

Our hepatitis C nurse can assess your health before chronic hepatitis C virus treatment. The nurse can also help you arrange appointments with your doctor and specialist.
